I finished my modern (2021 and up) Bronco & Bronco Sport collection. I now have all models and all versions up to this point. There are too many configurations, and aftermarket options, so I’m not even trying to publish everything, just each body style and for Bronco – versions with and without roof. All my design can be modified into everything else easily. Or I can also do any of the other versions as commission job.
Bronco supports almost every color combination, main limitations are modified headlight part – 4070 – and 1×1 round corner part 25269. Corner plate can be changed to standard square 1×1 tile. Modified headlight brick with side stud is more important to main design, so changing that will affect rear end design. Or this part can also be used in black color, so it would appear as black tailgate, or some plastic trim over tailgate near spare wheel. It would not be optimal situation, but to get this model in some of rarer colors this would be acceptable solution.
This design also supports both type of wheels – standard LEGO City scale wheels, and Speed Champions style wheels with wheel covers.
All Bronco versions can seat only 1 minfigure (even 4-door designs) because of 4 stud wide side window/roof line.
One thing that is less than optimal for this design is that because front part is shifted half stud, it creates small gap, that is visible through wheel arch when looked directly from side. Attached render example, its not really a big issue, nobody will look inside wheel arches, but its there. Also because of half stud shifted front design – front bumper and grille part is weak, attached to car only in one place (2 studs). So this design is more suitable as display model, as its not as strong as regular designs.
Roof and no roof versions use same design, in theory roof can be removed easily with some new parts added as roll bars, but to make that area nice, it requires a bit more work, to fill all the gaps etc. So I count roof and no roof versions as separate designs. If you want to convert your one version to other then be prepared you will need more parts, than just roof/roll bar for everything to look good.
Once new Bronco versions will apear, I will update my collection (race versions, emergence service versions, Raptor version etc). Right now we have Filson Wildland Fire Rig Concept and Bronco R race prototype. Although R race car is too far away from street version, so I don’t count this version as ‘regular’ Bronco version, but I will have it in this collection soon. Official model in set Ford GT Heritage Edition and Bronco R 76905 is cool, but how big these models can be? Its even bigger than regular 8 stud wide Speed Champions design. So that is not a option for me. I need to get this down to 6 studs. My design is in its early phase, I have rough shape ready and I need to tweak it and add all the details. In coming weeks/months I hope to finalize this design. I’m not rushing it, since race cars are not my top priority right now.
Bronco Sport also support almost every color combination IF hood part is replaced with curved 1×2 or 2×2 slopes and tiles. Actually hood piece part 52031 already have enough colors, so in most cases this part will work as it is now.
It also supports both type of wheels – standard LEGO City scale wheels, and Speed Champions style wheels with wheel covers.
Most interesting and unusual part about Bronco Sport design is rear window situation. It uses bricks and slopes. Its more complicated method as it should be normally, more simple method uses 3 simple slopes 2×2 (part 3039) in transparent-black color, but this part is not supper common, and will become less common if used frequently. So I’m not using this part unless absolutely necessary.
My future Bronco plans – for current gen models already published – if new version comes out (Raptor) or new facelift, or these models are more commonly used in special services (police, rescue, fire dep etc) I will publish these versions here. I’m really waiting for that 2023 Bronco Raptor. And at some point in the future (probably next year) I will publish all other Bronco generations as City scale designs. I also have work in progress design for second gen 1979 Bronco in Expert size. That model is without much progress for over a year. I hope to finish it one day. It looks like it can be my favorite design ever. So I will take my time.
