Just uploaded my first 2024 designs – Ford Bronco II instructions. These are smaller Ford Ranger based SUVs that confusingly still used Bronco name but its a separate vehicle not part of regular full sized Bronco generations.
My designs cover both – pre-facelift an facelift versions. And I think both vehicles look good in LEGO form. I especially wanted to have the possibility to have all two color tone versions that we can get in LEGO pieces.
The main color limitation is still wheel arch part 98282 that does not exist in many colors yet, so all color schemes that use tan or brown tones on bottom of the vehicle are still not possible (there is no good alternative for this part).
The hood (and cabin roof) part 52031 still limits several color choices but if really needed this part can be avoided and replaced with slopes and tiles.
Middle tone section use 1×1 brackets 36841 that also don’t have some important colors, but these parts with design changes can be avoided too.
So at the end, as long as we have correct color wheel arches, almost supported color schemes can be done on this design.
For my shop I chose two most popular – white/blue and white/red color color schemes.
But all other versions can be done as commission projects.
Ford Bronco II pre facelift version (1983-1988)
Early model year pre-facelift versions might be the best looking Bronco II version in LEGO, the front end is very recognizable and overall design is very clean and nice.
My uploaded version uses front bumper design with large rubber ends, it complicates the bumper design a bit and extend it wider that body design. I like this version better, but for private projects it will be possible to use regular shape bumpers. More like in my facelift version.
It is also possible to modify these designs to represent custom offroad 4×4 version like these examples below.
Ford Bronco II Plus
Ford Bronco II Plus is very rare conversion version that most people don’t know even exists. It adds extra length after rear wheels and extra roof space. There is very very little information available but at least several images exist on internet.
I designed one version too. It uses two tone – gray and dark red color scheme. Original references show tan/dark red color, but because of wheel arches, tan color is not currently (as of 2024) possible in with original LEGO parts. So I did the closest looking version with light bluish gray color body.
Because this version is so rare and obscure I will not add this on my shop, but design is available as commission project.
Ford Bronco II facelift
My facelift version design uses updated front end version from 1989 model year. I will use this same looking front for my upcoming Ford Explorers too. Everything else is the same as pre-facelift version.
